Presented by Dr. Minga Guerrero, this two-hour seminar will cover the issues of professional boundaries in patient-clinician relationships. The presentation will show you how to avoid being a complaint statistic, how to train your staff to avoid complaints, what happens if a complaint is filed against you, and how violations of varying degrees can affect your license. There will be examples of past claims that resulted in: no violation, probation, suspension, and revocation of license.
Avoiding a patient complaint is key, since the complaint process can cause a great deal of stress. Dr. Guerrero will show you how to avoid these complaints - for yourself and your staff - as well as be familiar with the process if one is filed.
This seminar satisfies the 2012 mandatory Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners two-credit requirement for a course on boundary and ethics in the chiropractic profession; the information will be applicable to all CAM disciplines. Please see below for continuing education hours/credits specifics.
This course is being presented from a perspective of a past OBCE board president, Minga Guerrero, DC. She is a 1984 graduate of Western States Chiropractic College and has maintained a private chiropractic practice at Hood View Chiropractic since 1984. Dr. Guerrero has over 17 years of service on the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners and serves as a consultant to the OBCE as an expert witness and investigator to assist with public complaints.
